2012, Vitoria
This photo was taken by Marcial Lopez, Master Stonemason at the
Cathedral Workshop in Basel, who, together with his friends at
Vitoria Cathedral, provided an enchanting and very special place
for the meeting of the Chairmanship in April 2012.
These imposing measures were taken by the authorities to ensure
the stability of the Cathedral. The relatively insecure subsoil has
presented problems for centuries.
Oskar Bell (centre) explains what these measures involved during
a tour, which also involved our companions.
No visit to the Basque Country is complete without popping into a
tavern to sample some Rioja wine.
There is a great deal of authentic surviving craftwork to admire
at the Cathedral of St Maria in Laguardia, including this original
Gothic painting.
